Actually regarding its history. It was started by Dr Gerhard Merz, a dutch surgeon who had joined the Atjeh war as a young doctor. He setled down in Bandung and started a clinic there. He had constant problems with the nurses who came from Holland and who ended up marrying plantation owners. So he started to employ catholic nuns who were more reliable. But at some stage he had to stop because of a kidney disease and turned his clinic over to the nuns. he was my grandfather.
